A Waterloo man, pursuing his love of hiking, was killed in an avalanche in Alaska. KWWL reports Matt Nyman spent many years serving in the military, but he had to stop when he was injured in a helicopter crash. After years of rehab, Nyman found a new love of mountaineering. He climbed Kilamanjaro, and Mount Lobuche near Everest. His family and friends are now remembering his spark."It was in all honor and respect for Matt Nyman, who deserves it," his wife, Kris, said.A GoFundMe account has been started to support Matt's family following his death. A little more than $32,000 has been raised so far.
