142 new Covid-19 cases recorded, with 53 recoveries, now 1,347 active cases142 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in the past 24-hours with 52 recoveries, there are now 1,347 active cases.

Health authorities said, today’s cases are “still being investigated.” From yesterday’s 204 cases, authorities said that 46 were family members of previously known cases, 18 were contacts of positive work colleagues, 3 cases were from Paceville, 9 were direct contacts with other positive cases and 4 cases were from social gatherings with other positive cases. Details were not given for the other outstanding 124 cases.

The brings the total number of cases up to 4,628. There have been 3,236 recoveries and 45 deaths, the Ministry said. There were 2,404 swab tests taken, with 297,765 having been taken since the start.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control – as of this morning, is showing the same figures for Malta as yesterday, so the 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000, is 231.6 with the number of cases showing as 4,282 and 45 deaths. Malta is in eleventh position in the EU/EEA and UK. Czechia is at the top with 828.4

Public Health Authorities said that anyone who needs to take a test should call 111 to set an appointment, even if they do not have any symptoms. It is to be noted that due to the large volume of calls, it can take some time to get through.

All swabbing centres are open every day, including the one in Gozo, however appointments must be made on the above number.
