Cops made several firearms arrests in just a few hours overnight, grabbing five guns off the street after two days in Boston that saw two die following a double shooting and a triple shooting.

At 12:48 a.m., Boston Police officers in the 300 block of Dudley Street pulled over a car flagged for being connected to a missing child. Inside, “the passenger quickly tried to cover his lap with a bag of chips” leading the cops to notice a large item in his pocket, according to police.

It was a Glock, cops say, so they arrested 19-year-old Jamaun Coakley-Thomason, of Roxbury, on illegal weapons charges.

Then at 1:07 a.m., police in Roxbury, dealing with a large crowd “fighting and arguing,” gave chase to a man they say they saw holding a gun — with “the growing crowds following closely,” according to police. Cops said the crowd “repeatedly interrupted” and interfered with the pursuit — including one woman trying to trip a cop.

Elvis DaCruz, 30, of Roxbury, who reportedly threatened officers, and the alleged runner, 31-year-old David Dardy Jr., of Brockton, were arrested.

A bit later, just before 3 a.m., cops pulled over a car at East Street and Dorchester Avenue. They said both the passenger and driver suddenly fixated on the center console, where officers, listening to the driver’s “tirade” against them, found a handgun.

Police arrested the driver, 29-year-old Dakwain Nwaford of Dorchester, and the passenger, 20-year-old Oreion Malachy Mark of Roxbury, on firearms charges.

Then, at 3:10 a.m., cops on Blue Hill Avenue near Cheney Street pulling over a car that they said didn’t have an inspection sticker. After they searched both people in the car, officers said they found a loaded teal handgun “within the passenger’s groin area.” Police said they also found a second gun in the leg panel of the passenger’s seat. Cops arrested the driver, Tanzerious Anderson Jr. of Norwood, and the passenger, Ijahleel Reid of Randolph, both 22, on weapons charges.

That came after an arrest the previous day in which police at Roberts Playground in Dorchester chased an armed man, who later, in the face of police with guns drawn, kept “manipulating” his firearm, appearing to cock it, cops said. The officers eventually convinced the man, later identified as Daki Grant, to drop the pink gun and surrender without further incident, according to the police report. Grant now faces firearms charges.

Three men were shot on Hammond Street in the South End shortly before 8 p.m. Friday — two with non-life threatening injuries, and one who died that night.

That happened about 24 hours after a double shooting in Charlestown that left one man dead and another with serious injuries.
