(WTNH) — Hundreds are still without power across the state after Tropical Storm Isaias tore Connecticut Tuesday, Aug. 4.
On Thursday, an Eversource spokesperson told News 8 service to all customers who lost power during the storm was restored and that none of the remaining outages were due to Isaias damage.
As of 4 a.m. Friday, 1,528 are without power.
Eversource reported before 7 p.m. Tuesday they had met their goal of restoring service to 99% of customers before midnight Tuesday, Aug. 11.
The company said Saturday afternoon more than 1,700 crews were working urgently to repair the widespread damage to the electric system caused by the storm. Sunday that number jumped to 2,300 crews including teams from 12 states and Canada.
To support the restoration effort, Eversource reports they have “provided accommodations for the thousands of out-of-state crews, the Eversource logistics team worked to secure more than 6,500 beds for crews and has been serving more than 30,000 meals daily to ensure crews are rested and fed so they can focus on restoring power for customers.”
The company reported issues with its automated outage-reporting systems earlier this week. Customers can report outages by calling 800-286-2000.

United Illuminating released a statement Wednesday that it restored service to all who lost it due to the storm. UI’s website lists six customers out as of 10 p.m. Thursday.

Governor Lamont announced last Wednesday that he issued a state of emergency in response to the widespread outages.
“With more than 700,000 customers experiencing power outages, we need to take several emergency steps that will facilitate restoration,” Governor Lamont said. “I remain in consistent communication with municipal leaders and utility officials so that we can move resources to where they are most needed at this time. I continue to have regular communications with our Emergency Operations Center, which is managing both the response to this storm and our continued response to COVID-19.”
Later Wednesday afternoon, the governor announced he has submitted a request to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for a presidential emergency declaration in response to the storm. Governor Lamont said Friday morning FEMA approved that request.
Approval of an emergency declaration would allow the state to request direct federal assistance to supplement state and local efforts to save lives and protect public health and safety. The governor’s request also includes a potential 75% federal reimbursement of certain state and local emergency protective measures.
The governor said that his administration has also begun the initial damage assessments required to determine whether the state meets the threshold necessary for a presidential major disaster declaration, which would enable supplemental federal assistance.

Officials are asking customers to be patient for services to return as it is unsafe for crews to make repairs right now.
