Letter: A good time to heed Jefferson's wisdom

With this unique Fourth of July upon us, along with most decision-making having been taken out of our hands and objective discussions about COVID-19 harder to find than hen's teeth, Thomas Jefferson's words seem to be a perfect fit for our situation:

"When all government, domestic and foreign, in little as in great things, shall be drawn to Washington as the center of all power, it will render powerless the checks provided of one government on another, and will become as venal and oppressive as the government from which we separated."

Have we come full circle 244 years later?
