Teens allegedly threw furniture from house boat before setting it alight

Police have charged two 18-year-old men with arson after a house boat was gutted by fire in a Gold Coast river overnight.

The pair are alleged to have boarded the boat, anchored near a Pimpana River boat ramp in Coomera, about 5pm on Wednesday.

While on board, they allegedly damaged property and "proceeded to throw furniture into the water" before starting a fire that destroyed the vessel.

Both are expected to face the Southport Magistrates Court on July 23.
