DHHR confirms 18 new cases of COVID-19 in West Virginia in Friday evening report

UPDATE (JUNE 26, 2020 5 p.m.):

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources confirmed 18 new cases of COVID-19 in the state in its evening report on Friday. This brings the day’s total to 36 new cases.

The DHHR reported that as of 5 p.m., on June 26, 2020, there have been 162,663 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 2,730 total cases and 92 deaths.

According to the DHHR’s website, there are currently 636 active cases and 2,002 recovered cases in the state.

As case surveillance continues at the local health department level, it may reveal that those tested in a certain county may not be a resident of that county, or even the state as an individual in question may have crossed the state border to be tested. Such is the case of Fayette and Greenbrier counties in this report.

The report from the DHHR stated that as of 10 a.m. on Friday, June 26, there have been a total of 161,867 laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 2,712 total cases and 92 of those cases resulting in deaths.

According to the DHHR’s website, there are currently 713 active cases and 1,907 recovered cases in the state.
