Are those trails public? Never seen them and they look awesome, especially the steep part with the drop from the stone. I'm from Liege region but haven't seen them

Yeah they are all accessible from Sart Tilman

@ClaudeCarpaij: are there many trails near Namur/Dinante? I camped around there a coupe of times and I know there's good rock climbing but how's the MTB seen that way? looks like there'd be potential in them hills!

@hambobet: It's not the region I know best but Namur has one of the oldest DH tracks in Belgium near the Citadelle

@laurent: Yesss!! Awesome rider too. Not to mention the tons of underground BMX and MTB kids out there. I’ve seen some rippers over the years in Belgium. Kristof Lenssens is another perfect example.

And let's not forget the bike trial GOAT Kenny Belaey who is awesome on a mountainbike as well.

People always rag on Belgium, but loads of US states have a max elevation change of 250m or less to work with!

Liege looks great! I need to come ride there.

Well as a native, I can tell you that these great moments will just last for few minutes only. Unfortunately, those tracks are quite short, it is like a quickie behind a burger king. Anyway, nice vid Claude, we just have to be super careful with the safety as I "almost died" from a decapitation due to a barbwire trap a while ago (la Roche aux faucons, drève St Anne)...

@nicoMF: Yep it's all about quality and not quantity here... Yeah I know we had some similar problems as well unfortunately...

Nice Video. But how is the legal situation in Belgium?I've heard stories that you can get in real bad trouble for riding trails

What do you mean? By riding mountainbike trails?

Most of our trails are hiking trails where in some places people have made some mtb specific features. In theory singletrack is only accessible for hikers except where the local authorities have given the authorisation (almost nowhere). In practice there are only a limited amount of cases where authorities have taken action.

@oli4m: yeah I remember when they changed the "legislation" back in 1997, basically banning any biker from singletracks. But no one give a damn and ride them anyway. When you cross hikers, you just slow down, or step down.

I have heard stories about the old Nissan Track in Malmady that Rangers showed up and even confiscated the Bikes of the Riders.

This is how to be creative with a difference in elevation of 50m.
Le plat pays n'est plus celui qu'il était Smile

Our longest downhill runs have an elevation change of around 250m, so it's not that bad...
