The Ministry of Health of Armenia today hosted a discussion on the epidemic situation in Armenia moderated by Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan. Among the participants were data experts, epidemiologists, the Dean of the College of Public Health at the American University of Armenia and professors of the Chair of Epidemiology at Yerevan State Medical University. The participants were also joined by professionals from various countries, as well as representatives of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the World Health Organization (WHO), as reported the Ministry of Health of Armenia.

The participants discussed the existing data on the coronavirus pandemic, the effectiveness of the guidelines and the selected management model and shared their observations.

They also touched upon the fake and false news that are disseminated during the pandemic and shared the view that close cooperation of government agencies and a coordinated approach are necessary in this situation.

The representative of the WHO emphasized that it is necessary to treat the forecasts seriously and continue to apply the restrictions and conduct tests parallel with the rise in the number of cases.

Minister Torosyan listened to everyone’s opinions, stated that he will keep the raised issues in his focus and voiced hope that such meetings will be ongoing.
