Covid-19, Crisis, Good for Business, Latvia, Markets and Companies

As reported, in an effort to contain the spread of Covid-19, Latvia declared a state of emergency from March 13 to June 9. A number of restrictions, primarily preventing people from gathering in large groups, have been introduced during the state of emergency.

The prime minister indicated that the government's aim is to call the state of emergency off after this date. The plan is to replace the state of emergency with a special temporary law that would give the government additional powers so that it can swiftly respond to new situations arising from the spread of Covid-19 and protect public health. 

However, the government will continue to stress that basic restrictions and requirements like increased hygiene standards and physical distancing remain in force as long as Covid-19 is not completely eradicated but is only contained.
