Fatima Galvez Marin collected her second gold medal of the Qatar Open Shotgun Championship as she teamed up with Alessandro De Souza Ferreira to pick up the mixed team trap title for Spain.

Yesterday, on the concluding day of the eight-day championship, Marin and De Souza Ferreira warded off the challenge of the British pair of Matthew Coward-Holley and Kirsty Hegarty to win the top prize.

On Thursday, Marin had won the women’s individual event setting aside the challenge of Alessandra Perilli of Sammarinese and Giulia Grassia of Italy.

Marin and Marin and De Souza Ferreira edged out the Great Britain pair 43-41 in the gold medal shoot-out.

Great Britain’s Coward-Holley also finished on the podium for a second successive day. The 25-year-old, who has qualified for the Tokyo

Olympics Games, had picked silver in the men’s individual trap event on Thursday, finishing behind three-time World Champion Erik Varga of Slovakia.

Italian pair of Emanuele Buccolieri and Erica Sessa finished third overcoming the challenge of compatriots Alessandro Chianese and Isabella Cristiani 40-31 scoreline.

Twenty two teams took part in the mixed team event.

Around 220 shooters from 34 countries took part in the $132,000 event, which saw several Olympic and World Champions competing for glory in 10 categories of individual and mixed team events in preparation for the Tokyo Olympic Games which take place August this year.

The hosts were represented by 50 shooters and the championship was organised by Qatar Shooting and Archery Association.
