The transfer window has a way of leaving your head spinning.

From confirmed rumours to mere gossip and everything else in between, it can be just as stressful as the action on the pitch.

One thing is certain, however, and that's Celtic 's intention to strengthen before February arrives.

Neil Lennon could add as many as four players to his squad over the coming weeks.

A striker has been earmarked as priority, while defensive additions are also a possibility.

Here's the state of play as of Thursday morning...

Andraz Sporar

There's no shortage of interest in the Slovan Bratislava striker and Celtic are firmly in the mix. Lennon has spoken publicly of his interest which, arguably, speaks to a confidence this one might just happen. Talks were set to resume this week but, according to Portuguese media, Sporting Lisbon and Bristol City will be involved. It's said the English side have now made a "firm offer" for the 25-year-old Slovenian. With 20 goals in 26 appearances already this term, it's little wonder Sporar is attracting attention from across the continent.

Patryk Klimala

The Jagellonia Bialystok striker is understood to feature high on the list of potential striking reinforcements. He's hit seven goals in 17 appearances this season and has also been linked Celtic's Europa League last 32 opponents FC Copenhagen, as well as Serie A side Genoa. At £3.5million, he's well within the Parkhead price range and the 21-year-old has indicated he's keen to move on. But the obvious catch is his declaration he'll only consider offers which make him first choice striker. That, quite clearly, puts an Odsonne Edouard-shaped obstacle in Klimala 's way.

Tyrese Campbell

It wouldn't be the transfer window without, firstly, Celtic eyeing up a hot prospect from the English Championship and, two, both the Hoops and Rangers interested in the same player. Campbell is also being courted by Crystal Palace and Wolves but Celtic have shown they can tempt young players north of the border at the expense of their English counterparts. Moussa Dembele is the ultimate example and Jeremie Frimpong hasn't done too badly so far either. The forward's contract is up in the summer and his future is set to be decided one way or another before long.

Fabricio Bruno

Another transfer window staple, the mysterious target from a far-flung land that just won't go away. Remember Rivaldo Coetzee? Celtic were linked with the South African defender the entire 2017 summer window and his club, Ajax Cape Town, went as far as announcing the deal on their Twitter only for it to collapse thanks to a failed medical. Centre-back Bruno's situation is of a quite different nature as it's reported in Brazil he's involved in a legal wrangle with current side Cruzeiro. There's even allegations of the player's agent attempting to siphon sensitive documents out of a meeting with the club's CEO. It's since been reported the 24-year-old is set to join Red Bull Bragantino in his homeland.

And the rest...

A handful of other players have been linked with a switch to Glasgow over the past week. Paris Saint-Germain's teenage stopper Moussa Sissako is among them, having reportedly been told he has no future with the French champions. Reports in the Netherlands named Feyenoord midfielder Renato Tapia as a target. Left-field moves for Billy Sharp and Glenn Murray have also been mooted. Brighton boss Graham Potter played down talk of an exit for Murray, while Sheffield United are set to allow Sharp to decide his own future. As yet, he has not asked to leave. Blades manager Chris Wilder addressed the speculation on Thursday morning.

He said: "I spoke to him about three weeks ago about it, knowing what would come up in January," said Wilder.

"And rightly so. If I was in the Championship and needed someone to give us a boost in January and score us some goals between now and the end of the season and saw that Bill Sharp wasn't playing at Sheffield United then I would be asking the question.

"Always the decision is with Billy. Obviously from an individual point of view, Billy is disappointed he's not playing. The decision is with him and if he comes to me and says he needs to be playing then I will respect that.

"But we need him here as well between now and the end of the season so our need is just as big, if not bigger, as those clubs in the Championship."
