No. 9 Florida was locked in a tight contest with South Carolina on Saturday, with the Gamecocks seeking their 2nd straight win over a top 10 opponent after a stunning victory over No. 10 Georgia last week. It wasn’t meant to be as the Gators eventually won 38-27, thanks to 21 points in the 4th quarter to improve to 7-1.

Hours after the victory, the Gators’ Twitter account couldn’t resist having a little fun at the Gamecocks’ expense.

One of the mantras Will Muschamp has tried to impose on his program in recent years is “All gas, no brakes”, which took its roots late in the 2017 season but has appeared to taper off. Florida’s social media team knew full well that was the case, and as a result took an opportunity to take one last parting shot at their opponent.

Of course, Muschamp was the former head coach of the Gators, going 28-21 (17-15 in conference play) from 2011-2014 before being fired at the end of the 2014 season. So, that adds a little spice to what would have been a fun little tweet in and of itself. Meanwhile, Muschamp is 1-3 against his former program, falling in 2016 before a 28-20 victory in Columbia in 2017. Florida’s won the past two meetings between the two schools, though, and with back-to-back wins against the Gamecocks on its ledger, it’s now made sure to let everyone know.
