THANE: An Andheri resident was arrested in a Rs 5 crore drug smuggling racket on Saturday. The drug, Tramadol, is popular among ISIS terrorists.
The name of Sanjay Shukla (38) cropped up following the custody of his brother, Nilesh, an accused in the Avinash Bali murder case, police said. Bali was a key witness in the Amboli double murder of 2011.
"Based on sustained interrogation of Nilesh earlier this month, we found that his brother Sanjay too was involved in peddling and despatching drugs to Europe and the US," said a police officer.

The accused used to get orders at a small call centre, after which they used to courier it, police said. They were involved in manufacturing the drug, the officer added. They were produced in court and remanded to police custody till February.
Police had seized nearly 400 strips of banned tablets, worth Rs40,000 locally, but over Rs 40 lakh in the international market, from a godown. Many more names have cropped up, added the officer.
