‘I thought I was dead’ — Fond du Lac crash survivor tells his tale

After the turbo prop plane Lyman Fern was a passenger on crashed, he was surrounded by darkness, still conscious. He was one of the 25 people who survived the crash landing involving a West Wind Aviation plane. The plane took off a short time before from Fond Du Lac and crashed about one mile west of the airport. No deaths have been reported. Click here to read more …

Saskatoon crime stats: Meth drives increase in property offences, vehicle thefts

Crystal meth use continues to fuel an increase in crime in Saskatoon, the city’s acting police chief says. Mark Chatterbok said a 14 per cent rise in property crime and a one per cent rise in crimes against people in 2016 compared to 2015 is linked to a simultaneous rise in meth use. “From our perspective, the main factor behind that is the methamphetamine in the city,” Chatterbok told reporters. Click here to read more …

Canada seeks U.S. buy-in on ocean protection as part of G7 climate initiative

OTTAWA — Canada has persuaded the Trump administration to consider backing a climate change-related initiative that it wants to showcase when it hosts the G7 summit next year, The Canadian Press has learned. Riders announce 2018 schedule, will hold home opener on June 15

The Saskatchewan Roughriders had an early Christmas present for Rider Nation on Thursday. The Riders and the CFL revealed their 2018 schedule on Thursday. The league has usually announced its schedule in mid-February to early March. “For years, our fans have asked to have the schedule released as early as possible, preferably in time to consider buying season tickets as gifts for family and friends,” CFL commissioner Randy Ambrosie said in a prepared statement. Click here to read more …

The first hint that our lives are being manipulated by social media is the emotional tenor. If Facebook is really just a tool, when was the last time you got this worked up using a rake or pair of scissors?
