Sweden takes part in JEF activity to protect critical underwater infrastructure in Baltic Sea

SWEDEN, June 3 - The Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) is once again increasing its presence in the Baltic Sea and the North Atlantic to help protect critical underwater infrastructure.

The JEF is a defence partnership between ten northern European countries and Sweden has taken part since 2017.

“The JEF plays an important role in addressing existing threats to critical underwater infrastructure in our neighbourhood. This activity demonstrates once again that the JEF countries are united, coordinated and ready to act,” says Minister for Defence Pål Jonson.

The activity, which goes by the name of Nordic Warden, begins today, 3 June and will continue throughout the month with participation from all of the JEF countries. A similar JEF activity to protect critical underwater infrastructure in the Baltic Sea was undertaken in December last year.
