Four foreigners arrested for illegal acquisition of Angolan nationality

Huambo, ANGOLA, October 23 - Four foreign nationals were arrested in central Huambo province in July and September, accused of illegally acquiring Angolan nationality, Angop learned Tuesday.,

These are two Mauritanians, one from Côte d'Ivoire and one from Guinea-Bissau, who were arrested following a lawsuit filed by the Foreigner and Migration Service (SME) and sent to the Attorney General's Office.

The four foreigners, according to the local SME director, deputy immigration commissioner Randal Midoux Mouzinho, had national identity documents without, for that purpose, meeting the necessary requirements, thus incurring the crime of falsification of documents.

After being detained and heard by the Office of the Attorney General, three of them were sent to the prison because there is strong evidence of the crime, while one is in prison at SME in  the municipality of Caála , because the investigation of his case has not yet been completed.

Between July and September, according to the local SME director, 38 criminal cases were investigated and referred to the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic, 11 more than in the previous three months.

Migration sub-commissioner Randal Midoux Mouzinho explained that 34 of these cases involved an equal number of foreigners, of different nationalities, indicted in the falsification of various documents and serious violations of the law 02/07 of 31 August, on the legal regime of foreigners, awaiting the pronouncement of the Attorney General's Office.
