Angola could be OIF member in 2020
This was said to the press on Saturday in Luanda by the France ambassador to Angola, Sylvain Itté, during the celebration of this European country Bastille Day.
According to the French diplomat, the first step for Angola’s candidacy was given by its president, João Lourenço, in May in Paris, adding that after the public announcement of the country’s intention to join the OIF a process for the formalization of the candidacy should followed.
He also said during these two years to come before the candidature is formalized, the two parties will be working on university cooperation and bolstering contacts between the Angolan media and Francophone television.
According to the French diplomat, Angola is the only country of the African Portuguese Speaking Countries, which is not OIF member.
"Angola is undoubtedly the most Francophone country in Africa outside the Francophone ones. There was something that did not fit to have a country as important as Angola not belonging to the francophone family, "said the diplomat.
