White House Considering Indra Nooyi To Head World Bank: NYT

The White House is considering former PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi to become the next head of the World Bank.

According to The New York Times, citing several people familiar with the matter, Nooyi has been courted as an ally to the Trump administration by Ivanka Trump.

Nooyi had stepped down from her role as PepsiCo's chief executive in October after leading the snacks and beverage company for 12 years.

However, the decision-making process for picking the next World Bank President remains fluid and is still in its early stages.

Meanwhile, the report says it is unclear whether Nooyi would accept the nomination if chosen by the administration. Ivanka Trump, who has tweeted that she views Ms. Nooyi as a "mentor + inspiration," has floated her name as a potential successor.

Nooyi's support for former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton could possibly be a roadblock for her nomination.

Last week, World Bank's President Jim Yong Kim announced he was stepping down effective February 1.
