EUGENE -- We were live from Matthew Knight Arena for tonight's game between No. 21 Oregon and Green Bay.
The Ducks (4-1) were holding teams to one of the lowest shooting percentages in the country so far. The Phoenix (3-3) were actually the best shooting team Oregon will face yet and is coming in off winning the subregional of the 2K Empire Classic, which this game is a part of.
Below are live updates from tonight's game.
-- Green Bay sticking within 2 scores as teams trade buckets
-- JayQuan McCloud with 8 of Green Bay's last 9 points to get to double-figures.
-- Abu Kigab up to 9 points, his most since back-to-back double-figures in his second and third games of last season
-- Payton Pritchard gets to 10 points
-- Abu Kigab with a pair of putbacks, great hustle off the bench from him
-- Oregon responds with 9-0 run with a pair of 3s from Payton Pritchard, who is suddenly looking for his shot
-- Phoenix rising. Ducks out of sorts with 3 turnovers.
-- Scoring: Bol Bol with 15 points & 6 rebounds. Will Richardson with 5 points, Paul White and Kenny Wooten (5 rebs) with 4 each, Ehab Amin and Victor Bailey Jr. (4 rebs) with 3 each, Payton Pritchard (3 rebs & 3 asts) and Abu Kigab with 2 each.
-- Francis Okoro on a very short leash. Played less than 3 minutes. After just checking in he committed a turnover and got benched.
-- Bol Bol misses a wide open dunk after a nice pass from Ehab Amin. He's still human.
-- Bol Bol up to 15 points and he made Oregon's first 3-pointer (1/7). Crowd made some noise for the first time tonight.
-- Oregon started to get more of a flow back but now back in a lull. Payton Pritchard is not looking for his shot and when Will Richardson was on the floor with him that seems like a missed opportunity.
-- Oregon has gone 6:04 without a field goal and after back-to-back Green Bay baskets calls timeout with 6:34 to half. Not a good stretch here for the Ducks.
-- Phoenix up to 8 team fouls and have done a nice job of clogging up the paint on defense when Bol Bol is on the floor.
-- Ducks playing their best game of the season. Ball movement is there. Rebounding, defensive intensity. If not for 0/5 from 3 Oregon would be pretty much ideal right now.
-- Oregon hitting a rhythm on offense. Paul White with a nice spin move and layup. Abu Kigab with a putback to make it 17-8 and Green Bay calls timeout.
-- Pace definitely to Green Bay's liking but Oregon isn't minding
-- Payton Pritchard with a nice sequence to run back for a block and then fly up court and dish off to Bol Bol
-- Bol Bol with 2 quick buckets
-- Ducks starters: Payton Pritchard, Ehab Amin, Paul White, Kenny Wooten, Bol Bol
-- Phoenix starters: Sandy Cohen III, PJ Pipes, ShanQuan Hemphill, Manny Patterson, Jevon Smith
-- Oregon is a 20.5-point favorite, according to VegasInsider.com
