Bulgarian films with high viewer interest abroad

Most of the Bulgarian films made in the past couple of years have been translated into foreign languages and screened abroad.

A study, conducted by journalists, shows that approximately 82 percent of Bulgarian films have reached audiences in other countries. Out of the 17 best known movies which have appeared over the past 24 months, only 3 have not been readied for screening abroad. “Heights”, “Directions”, “All she wrote”, “Ága”, “Omnipresent”, “Bubblegum”, “Enemies” are just some of the movies with a high level of viewer interest.

Audiences saw Bulgarian films in Albania, France, Poland, Switzerland, Germany, USA, even Qatar, Egypt and Dubai. Good news for Bulgarian filmmaking has again come in, this time from DOK Leipzig, the International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film, where “Palace for the people”, a film by Boris Misirkov and Georgi Bogdanov won the 2018 audience award.
