The second place in the list was taken by Italian Naples, the third - Macedonian Skopje.

The average annual pollution index for the three cities was 97.57, 84.61, and 82.17, respectively.

The top 10 also includes the capital of Albania - Tirana, Italian Turin, the capital of Romania - Bucharest, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina - Sarajevo, Polish Krakow, Bulgarian Plovdiv and the capital of Ukraine - Kiev.

Russian St. Petersburg and Moscow ranked 17th and 19th, respectively, with indicators of 64.47 and 63.02.

The capital of Finland - Helsinki - 13.49 became the cleanest city from the ecological point of view.

In July, the newspaper Izvestia reported that, according to Rospotrebnadzor, at the end of 2017, Buryatia became the region with the dirtiest air in Russia.
