Kazakhstan hails Belarus' big role in addressing security-related issues in Europe, Chairman of the Senate of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said as he met with Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko on 31 October, BelTA has learned.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev praised Belarus' contribution to the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. “As for the current situation, we give credit to Belarus' big role in addressing European issues,” he said.

The Munich Security Conference Core Group Meeting is to kick off in Minsk on 31 October. According to the chairman of the Senate, the Belarusian capital was by right chosen the venue for the meeting of this authoritative forum. “In general we note that the role of Belarus in the international arena has been steadily increasing. The credit for this goes largely to the President of Belarus. Kazakhstan will do everything possible to facilitate the peacekeeping mission of your state,” added Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Vladimir Andreichenko noted that Minsk is taking serious actions to ensure conditions for peace talks on Ukraine. Over the time of the conflict, some 150,000-160,000 citizens of Ukraine have moved to Belarus. Conditions are created for them to receive free training and treatment, to provide them with jobs, and solve accommodation issues.

Astana is taking very important steps to create conditions for resolving crisis issues in Syria, Vladimir Andreichenko added.
