Bishkek, Oct. 10, 2018. /Kabar/. Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) Dastanbek Dzhumabekov spoke at the 3rd meeting of the Speakers of the Eurasian Countries' Parliaments in the city of Antalya, Turkey,.

Delegations from 41 countries took part in the 3rd meeting of the Speakers of Parliaments. The first and second meetings were held in 2016 in Moscow (Russian Federation) and in 2017 in Seoul (South Korea). The initiative to hold such annual meetings of the Speakers of the Eurasian countries belongs to the Russian Federation and South Korea.

The agenda of today's event were the issues of economic cooperation, the environment and sustainable development in Eurasia, and joint opposition to world challenges and threats. The meeting participants called the format of this meeting “unique”, since it allows to gather heads of parliaments from all over the Eurasian continent on one platform.

Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Binali Yıldırım stated that during this meeting it is necessary to work through the issues of improving communication functions between the participants of this inter-parliamentary platform.

Yıldırım also elaborated on the problem of international terrorism in the countries of Eurasia. “Terrorism threatens the lives and security of thousands of people. The fight against terrorism on the international platform should be under the auspices of solidarity; we should not take a dual approach in eradicating this phenomenon. Attempts to provide terrorists with weapons and with logistical assistance should also be stopped,” Yıldırım said.

In turn, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Moon Hee-sang also focused attention on economic cooperation and taking measures for the sustainable development of the countries of Eurasia during the 3rd meeting of the Speakers of Eurasian Countries' Parliaments.

Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin said that cooperation at such inter-parliamentary platforms "allows to more actively development of multilateral cooperation, solving tasks to strengthen humanitarian ties, build relations on the principles of non-interference in the internal affairs of states and respect for each other."

“I support the proposal of colleagues on the further improvement and development of communications between our parliaments. We need an effective channel for sharing information and initiatives. And only together we will be able to secure a safe future for our continent,” Vyacheslav Volodin said.

The Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh, as part of his speech, stated that “in a short time, the Eurasian space was at the crossroads of regional and global problems.” The Speaker included terrorism, religious extremism, drug trafficking, arms trafficking, illegal migration, and climate change. The situation is aggravated by the fact that the above issues, coming from one cause, become the basis for other problems.

“Eurasia should become a politically and economically indivisible space, where the principles of freedom, equality, mutual respect and consistency will be laid at the basis of international interaction. Our region should be free from insults and misunderstandings of the past and present. We must look at the prospects for the sake of peace and a bright future for the next generations,” Dzhumabekov stressed.

At the end of this meeting, a final document will be adopted - a joint Declaration of the 3rd meeting of Speakers of Eurasian Countries' Parliaments. It was decided that the next meeting will be held in 2019 in Astana (Republic of Kazakhstan).
