Bishkek, Sept. 13, 2018. / Kabar /. The 18th International Issyk-Kul Games have started on Wednesday in Cholpon-Ata, the State Agency for Youth, Physical Culture and Sports of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
A solemn opening ceremony of the games took place in the Rukh Ordo ethno-complex, which was attended by Director of the Directorate for Non-Olympic Sports under the State Agency Murat Kibrayev, chairman of the CIS Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation Kamol Rakhimov, first deputy governor of Issyk-Kul Damir Monodorov and deputy chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions Zheenbek Osmonaliev.
"International Issyk-Kul sports games are traditional competitions and are held under the motto "Asia is the region of cooperation and peace!" with the purpose of further development and improvement of health-improving, physical-mass work, strengthening of friendship between peoples. I am sure that this sports festival will make a significant contribution to the strengthening of friendship and health. With all my heart I wish you victories and high achievements in honest and uncompromising sports wrestling!," said Kibrayev.
After the parade of the participating countries, he declared the XVIII games open.
A concert was held with the participation of Kyrgyz pop stars after the welcoming remarks.
This year, 1,248 participants from 11 countries take part in the Games.
The sports program includes popular sports among men and women: arm wrestling, basketball 3x3 (streetball), volleyball, tug-of-war, swimming, kettlebell lifting, track and field (individual classification), table tennis, mas-wrestling, mini football, futsal, beach football, beach volleyball, beach wrestling, beach sambo, Sumo wrestling, mass track and field race.
The competition will end on Sept. 19.
