MSU Billings Hosts Free Public Events During Tour Of Eastern Montana

Montana State University Billings is heading on a Buzzin’ Beyond Billings tour of Eastern Montana, and they’re stopping in Sidney on Wednesday, July 25. The community, alumni and friends of the University are invited to a day of free events dedicated to Yellowjacket pride and Eastern Montana heritage. Beginning at 11 a.m., an alumni and community focus group will be held at MonDak Heritage Center. Don’t miss this opportunity to provide feedback to the University so they can better serve you and Eastern Montana.

Stay for a free luncheon lecture from noon to 1 p.m. Lunch is provided while you hear updates from campus before Dr. Keith Edgerton of the MSUB history department gives a special “History of Homesteading in Eastern Montana” presentation.

“The MonDak Heritage Center is excited to host Dr. Keith Edgerton and MSU Billings for a luncheon and homesteading program,” Executive Director Dan Karalus said. “This is a great opportunity to learn more about regional history and education opportunities.”

At 5 p.m., head to Sidney Health Center for a free taco social in the cafeteria. Meet MSU Billings staff, faculty, and administrators and learn more about how campus is connecting with Eastern Montana. Plus, one local student pursuing higher education while still in high school tells the story of her experience in the MSUB University Connections program.

“At Sidney Health Center, we work with employees to encourage internal growth and professional development. From our perspective, it’s mutually beneficial for the employee, the organization and the community we serve when we invest in professional development including higher education opportunities,” said Lisa Aisenbrey, human resources senior executive.

New MSU Billings Chancellor Dan Edelman will be on tour and hopes to meet people from all over Eastern Montana as the group travels to Miles City, Glendive, Sidney and Poplar over three days.

“Many MSU Billings students and alumni have deep roots in Eastern Montana. Often they’ve had to come to Billings to learn about the great things we’re doing on campus. Now, we’re coming to them in force - to meet them on the plains of our state face-to-face. We want to connect with Eastern Montana communities and the families and friends of our Yellowjackets, past and future. Our aim is to raise awareness, entice prospective students, and strengthen relationships with the people who matter most to our University,” said Chancellor Edelman.

University athletics, recruitment, development, alumni, and others will also be on the bus from Billings.

Parking for Buzzin’ Beyond Billings events is available free of charge at each location. RSVPs to 406-247-5781 or [email protected] are appreciated, but not required.
