Oakland County Commissioner Phil Weipert has been selected to lead southeast Michigan’s regional council of government leaders.
The Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG) have appointed Weipert chair after serving as first vice chair for the past year under Chair Robert Clark, mayor of Monroe.
‘I want to continue our work to implement regional plans and policies that we have developed together,’ said Weipert at SEMCOG’s general assembly in late June. ‘I also hope that we build upon this great work by showcasing our accomplishments.’
SEMCOG’s other 2018-2019 officers include:

* Chris Barnett, Vice Chairperson; Supervisor, Orion Township
* Mandy Grewal, Vice Chairperson; Supervisor, Pittsfield Township
* Brenda Jones, Vice Chairperson, President, Detroit City Council
* Eric Sabree, Vice Chairperson; Treasurer, Wayne County
* Robert Clark, Immediate Past Chairperson, Mayor, Monroe
Weipert is currently serving his fourth term as a county commissioner representing district 8, which includes the cities of South Lyon, Wixom, Milford, Lyon Township and Milford Township.
At SEMCOG, Weipert serves on the general assembly, executive committee, finance and budget committee, and regional review committee.
