The Oregon Ducks have been off to a blistering-hot start to the 2019 recruiting cycle, and that trend continued Thursday.

During a visit to Eugene, 247Sports three-star defensive end/outside linebacker Isaac Townsend announced his commitment to the Ducks, choosing Oregon over offers from Boise State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Tennessee and others:

The 6-foot-6, 235-pound edge-rusher, out of Ralston Valley Senior High School (Arvada, Colorado), is rated the nation's No. 22 weakside defensive end and No. 4 player in Colorado, according to 247Sports.

For Oregon, Townsend's commitment marks the second consecutive year the program has pulled the top defensive player out of the state of Colorado. Last year, the Ducks landed Under Armour All-American outside linebacker Adrian Jackson.

That hasn't happened by accident, as defensive coordinator Jim Leavitt, formerly the defensive coordinator at Colorado, has been an integral part of Oregon's recent success in, "The Centennial State."

Townsend's commitment gives Oregon 10 pledges in the class of 2019 and the third or fourth commitment for the defensive front, joining defensive tackle Keyon Ware-Hudson, linebacker Mase Funa and possibly athlete Jayvaun Wilson, who will start out at running back but may wind up at outside linebacker.
