Soldier kills colleague after alleged cocaine use

The 3 Division of the Nigerian Army has arrested a soldier, identified simply as Emmanuel, for allegedly stabbing a colleague, David, to death in Jos, Plateau State.

The Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Kayode Ogunsanya, of the 3 division, said the military police were investigating the case.

PUNCH Metro gathered that Emmanuel, of the private (Pte) military rank, on Tuesday took a substance suspected to be cocaine.

It was learnt that shortly after taking the drug, he got into a fight with the victim over a girl at the mammy market of the 3 division, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment.

The fight was said to have escalated and Emmanuel reportedly brought out a knife and stabbed the victim.

A source said, “The victim was also a gunner of the 303 Artillery. After he was, stabbed, he was immediately rushed to the Medical Reception Station where a first aid treatment was administered on him before he was referred to a hospital for further medical attention. He was said to have died at the hospital.

Ogunsanya  confirmed the incident.

He said, “The story is true; the military police are investigating the case.”
