HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam has set its sights on beating Indonesia in the quarter-finals of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women’s Futsal Championship 2018 today.

The game will be held at Bangkok Arena in Thailand.

“Indonesia, the runners-up of Group A, are arch rivals of Việt Nam, and the two sides are evenly matched for talent," said Vietnamese coach Trương Quốc Tuấn. "However, we are determined to defeat them to earn the right to compete in the event’s semi-finals.” .

Việt Nam gained three wins to top Group B and reach the quarter-finals. The team beat Chinese Taipei 1-0, Bangladesh 7-0, and Malaysia 3-1.

These wins will be a driving force for Việt Nam to perform in the upcoming match.

“Being the winner of Group B improves the morale of the Vietnamese team, and takes off some of the pressure. After finishing the qualifying round, we mainly focused on training our player’s physical strength, ensuring that they have the best possible form,” said Tuấn.

At the Southeast Asian Games last year, Việt Nam bested Indonesia 2-1 to take the silver medal, while Indonesia received the bronze medal.

Việt Nam will have its best line-up for the match today after their key player Nguyễn Thị Châu recovered from her injury. — VNS
