Thanks for support in time of loss

On January 5, 2018 we lost a great man who was dearly loved by many.  He was a man of great integrity who was kind, caring and courageous.  He was a man that touched many lives and wore a smile every day of his life.  He was the positive energy in the room with his unforgettable laugh.  He was a man that will never be forgotten because of how he made us feel.  He was my husband and the father of my children.

There are really no words to express our heartfelt thanks for the sympathy and support that has been extended toward our family during this time of loss.  As we take a moment, to reflect on the special memories that were shared, we learn how much family and friends mean to us.

During our time of sorrow, we were able to find comfort in the kindness and generosity you showed us.  Your actions speak volumes and we will forever be grateful.  At this moment, we wish to acknowledge the many expressions of love, support and compassion from friends and loved ones. All the outpouring support and the respect demonstrated helped console our hearts.

Thank you to... United States Senator Cory Booker, Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop, City Council Members,  Jersey City Chief of Police Michael Kelly especially Captains Edgar Martinez and Robert Kearns, James Carroll, the Men and Women of the Jersey City Police Department especially Cathy & Dina from the East District for the help and support. Lieutenant Shawn Kavanagh, Captain Trish Cassidy, who has been gracious to me by supporting me with groceries and food these past weeks,- with the meal train organized by Lorian Harris and Eva Kucaba https://mealtrain.com/qvrnyr,  Fraternal Order Police Lodge #4 Honor Guard, Jersey City Police Ceremonial Unit, N.Y. and N.J. Port Authority Police Pipes and Drums as well as other various Honor Guards, the Men and Women of the Jersey City Fire Department, New Jersey State Police, various Law Enforcement agencies from Federal to local, Director of OEM Greg Kierce, and my former Jersey City Police 911 Operators and Dispatchers.

In addition to the support my family and I have received, I would like to extend my gratitude to Lieutenant Shawn Kavanagh and Captain Trish Cassidy for taking over the meal train.  Their tireless efforts helped continue to provide meals for my family and me for an increased amount of time.  This simple act of kindness helped my family and me endure the devastating event that had occurred.

Furthermore, to the two great bosses Chris loved working for, Deputy Chief Daniel Sollitti (former Captain of the East District) and Captain Scerbo (former Captain of the East District). Chris respected the both of you and enjoyed doing his job under your guidance and leadership.  He always held you in high regard and treasured the relationship you had.

The beloved "Salsa Squad," Paul, Alex, Elvis, Fermin, Kevin, Joe, Hector, Billy, and Donna. There are truly no words that could ever describe the immense love and admiration Chris had for all of you. He spoke of you fondly and he knew that the bond you shared could never be broken.

Again, "Thank you" so much to for your sympathy and support at a time when it was much needed and deeply appreciated.  As my son Darin stated, "He loved my mom, loved his family and most importantly, he loved his family in blue."

May God Bless and Keep all of you.

The Robateau Family, Rose, Darin, Christopher, Michael and Rosie, Jersey City

Save pre-college program at NJCU

Recently, I've found out New Jersey City University will be ending it's Pre- College Bound program. This program provides academic enrichment, educational counseling, college tours, test preparation, and mentoring to many of our youth in the City of Jersey City especially on the South side of Jersey City.

How can we be role models to our children when we are cutting vital programs aimed to enrich their growth and development? I believe something needs to be done to protect our children in Jersey City.

There needs to be a round table discussion with NJCU, elected officials, and the Jersey City Board of Education to form a partnership to save this program!

Marijuana odor overwhelming

The first thing that comes to my mind is: Do any of these politicians have these marijuana smokers living on their blocks? No?

Well, we invite you to move to 37th Street in Union City. That way you can taste the medicine you want to push down our throats.

The other day a neighbor knocked on my door and asked me: What do you think we can do? These people in the apartment next door do not stop smoking pot.  The odor gets into our apartment and is unbearable. We have a kid and really fear for his welfare.

Also, almost, without failure these people are uneducated. It is also a terrible example for their kids.

And now our present Governor wants to make this a common thing in the entire State of New Jersey? Jesus Christ!
