Retail Therapy Night

The shops on Central Street, from 1800 to 2000, will stay open late so shoppers can come in for wine, appetizers and surprise gifts. Participating businesses will offer special discounts, raffles, refreshments and giveaways.

Cocktails are served. The April performing artist will be Cara Schlecker, acclaimed violinist and Oak Park native.

Favorite vendors from Evanston’s Summer Farmers’ Market will be open for business at the final winter market before the summer market starts up again in May. Both organic and conventionally grown vegetables, meat, cheese, eggs, fish and baked goods will be for sale. Curt’s Café Pop-up Kitchen will serve breakfast.

Tapestry: The Carole King Concert Experience

The show is a re-creation of the Carole King songbook performed with live band and multimedia images. Jeannie Austin and her band perform a tribute to King, who has had 400 compositions recorded by more than 1,000 artists, resulting in 100 hit singles. Lincoln-Way Foundation Half Marathon

This chip-timed half marathon will begin and end in the historic district of downtown Frankfort at the Breidert Green. The race will raise money for the Lincoln-Way High School 201 Foundation. Register at raceroster.com.

Party for the Planet

This day of fun-filled environmentally-friendly activities features animal Zoo Chats, recycling and planting opportunities, and an Eco Expo, where easy tips to help save the planet will be given. At 11 a.m., the public may join the grounds staff in planting a tree on the south mall. Download a tree guide from the zoo’s website at czs.org/TreeGuide to identify trees along the walkways. The zoo will hold collect recyclable items in the North Parking Lot from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Computers, peripherals, office equipment, small appliances and home entertainment items and textiles will be accepted.
