The 31 stores and one distribution center in Illinois that will likely be liquidated as part of the Toys R Us bankruptcy will leave 1.9 million square feet vacant. Most of those locations, 22, are in the Chicago area. Of the 31 stores, 11 are Toys R Us stores, five are Babies R Us stores, 13 are side-by-side stores and two are express locations.

Number of stores closing by state

With 88, California has the most locations that are closing, 23 more than Texas, which has 65. Florida and New York have 51 and 50, respectively; Pennsylvania, 40; Ohio, 33, and then comes Illinois with 31.
