No injuries in Wednesday school bus accident

FORT WALTON BEACH — No injuries were reported Wednesday afternoon after a pickup truck hit an Okaloosa County school bus, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The wreck occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m. in the 700 block of Eglin Parkway near Racetrack Road. According to the FHP, the truck was traveling north on Eglin when the driver tried to turn left into the Dollar Tree store. The truck crossed the path of the southbound school bus and the vehicles collided.

Twenty-five students were on the bus, according to the FHP report.

The driver of the pickup, 72-year-old Billy Parks of Fort Walton Beach, was cited for making an improper left turn, the FHP said.
