'Dear Justin's boss': Police write note to get man out of work during icy weather
The Seguin Police Department has received a lot of love from across the state after writing a work excuse to keep a Facebook user off the icy streets during this week's arctic blast.On Monday, the police department warned residents via Facebook to stay off the roads ahead of a freeze that affected travel across central Texas."Can y'all write me a note for work?" Justin Garcia commented on the police department's post.The cops came through for him."Dear Justin's Boss, the roads are bad and are going to get worse. Much worse," Deputy Police Chief Bruce Ure wrote. "Please let him stay home, warm and safe and enjoy some Hulu or some cool shows on Netflix. And, he needs a raise. He rocks."The exchange led to a long thread of comments commending the police department's efforts. News outlets across Texas picked up on it, helping bring more traffic to the post."I saw this on the news and just wanted to see it for myself lol," one person commented. "I love this. Too funny."In a separate thread, Garcia confirmed the note worked and got the day off. He also said he happened to get a raise in the beginning of the year, which he jokingly credited to the police department.The Seguin Police Department mentioned the attention the increased attention they got Wednesday night."The amount of love that Seguin Texas Police Department is getting right now is humbling," they wrote.
