LUDLOW, Mass. (WWLP) – West Street has been reopen after an accident Thursday afternoon.

The State Police accident reconstruction team were called in to investigate a crash on West Street in Ludlow Thursday afternoon.

Ludlow Police Sgt. Mike Gilrein told 22News the accident happened just before 11 a.m., and involved a 37-year-old Chicopee man with an over-sized platform tow truck and an SUV driven by a 33-year-old woman.

Sgt. Gilrein said the woman SUV driver, a Ludlow resident, and her passenger, a 63-year-old man from Palmer, were taken to Baystate Medical Center following the crash. Gilrein described the 63-year-old’s injury as a serious accident with serious injuries.

Gilrein told 22News the SUV turned in front of the truck, which then struck the passenger side of the SUV.  At 3 p.m., the State Police Accident Reconstruction Team were at the crash site.

Northbound traffic on West Street was detoured away at Fuller Street. Southbound traffic on West Street was getting through.
