Moline Mayor involved in car accident- UPDATE

UPDATE: Mayor Stephanie Acris talks to KWQC-TV6 while still in the hospital on Wed., Dec. 6, 2017.

She hopes to be released today but expects a lengthy recovery ahead of her. She has some broken bones, broken ribs and a broken pelvis.

Mayor Acri says she appreciates the community support and all the kind and caring words and prayers.

She is thankful for the police and firefighters who helped her at the scene of Monday's crash in which she had to be extricated from the vehicle.

During her absence, an alderman will serve as pro-tem each month.

Moline Mayor Stephanie Acri is recovering after a morning car crash on 7th street in Moline.

Police and fire responded around 7:40 a.m. to the crash involving two vehicles at the intersection of 7th street and 34th avenue.

The Moline Fire Department had to extricate one of the occupants and a total of three occupants were transported to Unity Point Hospital-Rock Island Campus for non-life threatening injuries.

Mayor Acri was the occupant of one of the vehicles and one of the three taken in for non-life threatening injuries.

The crash is still under investigation by the Moline Police Traffic Unit.
