A Daytona Beach woman broke open the door of her ex-boyfriend's South Daytona apartment and stabbed him in the palm with a screwdriver, police said.

A footprint was left on the broken front door of the apartment at 2150 S. Palmetto Ave. in South Daytona, along with pry marks on the frame, which was ripped off the wall. The door remained attached by the deadbolt, police said.

Donnett Sawrer, 46, who is out on $4,000 bail, was jailed on Sunday on charges of armed burglary of a dwelling and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, records show.

Reached on the telephone Monday, Sawrer said she was at work and could not talk.

According to police, Sawrer went to Thomas Khani's home several times on Saturday demanding her property in the apartment be given to her and spent as long as 45 minutes at one time banging on Khani's door.

Khani, 48, who was in the apartment with his pregnant 26-year-old girlfriend did not open the door because Sawrer was loud and aggressive, documents state.

After several attempts trying to open the door even using a sand bag and a wet rug, Sawrer returned one last time at 11:51 p.m. Saturday with her two teenage children, a large screw driver and a knife, police said.

Police said that while Sawrer pried the lock on the door, the children pushed the bottom on the door.

Khani's girlfriend said she was awakened a loud cracking noise and saw a screwdriver being pushed through the door, police reports state.

When the door finally came open, Sawrer met Khani at the entrance and tried to hit him in the face with the screwdriver, but the ex-boyfriend used his left arm and hand to deflect the blows and got stabbed in the palm, police said.
