COOSA COUNTY, AL (WBRC) - Deputies in Coosa County are searching for an escaped inmate they described as "extremely armed and dangerous."

Investigators identified him as Shane Anthony Vernon. He's described as a 5-9, 130-pound, 27-year-old white man with tattoos on his fist, forearm, neck and shoulder.

Vernon previously escaped custody in October before being recaptured days later.

The tattoo on his fist reads "ride or die." He also has a Chinese symbol on his neck and "County" on his shoulder.

Authorities say he physically circumvented the jail's security and escaped. He was spotted in Elmore County where it is believed he stole an electric dirt bike.

On Monday afternoon, officials say Vernon hit another house in Elmore County where he stole a gun and a van.

Deputies believe the fugitive is driving a stolen silver 2005 Chrysler Pacifica Touring Van with a firefighter license plate 93601F.

Anyone who knows where Vernon is should contact the Coosa County Sheriff's Office at 256-377-2211.
