Students at the Windsor Forest Primary School in Portland are getting help to prepare for the Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT) from a group of youth ambassadors and volunteers attached to the international charity, Shashamane Sunrise.

The team goes to the school every month to assist the students with communication task, mathematics, language arts and social studies.

Shashamane Sunrise is an international charity, which assists with education programmes in schools in Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Haiti, Trinidad, and Jamaica.

The charity was founded by two Jamaica-born residents of the United States, Professor Rene Williamson, a biomedical engineer, and Markos Rose, a telecommunications engineer.

The aim of the charity is to help to improve education in the entire community by ensuring the next generations of residents move on to universities and get the type of education that is needed to help them advance in this information-driven world.
