High Springs man killed in Friday collision

A High Springs man was killed and a Gainesville woman seriously injured in a three-car collision late Friday night near Micanopy, reported the Florida Highway Patrol.

Dead is Michael Wynne, 51. Neva Kelly, 46, was taken to UF Health Shands Hospital.

The crash happened at 11:26 p.m. on U.S. 441. Wynne was driving a 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser south in the northbound lanes, FHP reported in a news release.

Jennifer Hodge, 37, of Deland, was driving a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta northbound. Also northbound was Lewis Curl, 20, of Gainesville, driving a 1999 Lexus RX 300.

Wynne sideswiped Hodge’s car and then hit Curl’s car head-on, FHP said. The collision caused Curl’s car to overturn. U.S. 441 was shut down in both directions because the the crash.

Wynne died at the scene. Kelly was a passenger in Curl’s car. Curl had minor injuries and Hodge was not injured.
