New Kensington accepting food donations during investigation of Officer Brian Shaw's death
Food and drink donations are being accepted from community members eager to lend a hand as investigators search for the person who shot and killed New Kensington Police Officer Brian Shaw.
Donations may be taken to New Kensington Fire Department No. 1, located at 785 4th Ave., where an area has been set up for investigators on the Shaw case to rest and eat. Any food or refreshments may be dropped off between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
"A lot of people were offering food to try and sustain our operations and feed the men and women that are working around the clock to try and find this person, and if you would like to bring a food donation, we appreciate your generosity," said Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Stephen Limani, who has been acting as a spokesman for New Kensington police.

"If you want to drop a card off or something to pay your respects, they will take those items there as well," Limani added. "They are not looking for cash in any way, shape or form. We do not want monetary donations. Just if you wanted to send something, maybe to think you're uplifting the men and women out there doing the work, we understand people wanting to do that and we accept those types of acts of generosity."
Officers from many Western Pennsylvania police departments have joined the effort to find Shaw's killer. Police have not yet released a description of the suspect.
Police Chief Jim Klein has said that Shaw, 25, was shot during a foot pursuit after making a traffic stop on Leishman Avenue shortly before 8 p.m. Friday. The suspect's vehicle, described as a gold-colored Jeep Grand Cherokee, was later found unoccupied in New Kensington, not far from the crime scene.
