Brother, Sister Wounded In 210 Freeway Car-To-Car Shooting In Fontana

FONTANA (CBSLA) — A man was shot in the face Thursday morning in a car-to-car shooting that also wounded his sister on the Foothill (210) Freeway in Fontana.

The shooting happened at about 6:40 a.m., and a SigAlert was issued for the westbound 210 Freeway east of Cherry Avenue, right before the I-15, for the police investigation.

A man driving a black Honda was shot in the face, and his sister in the passenger seat was also injured. She was reportedly shot in the shoulder.

They were both taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.

As many as eight bullets struck their car during the shooting.

Police shut down all the westbound lanes at Citrus to Cherry at 9 a.m. to search for shell casings and collect more evidence. The freeway opened about an hour and a half later.

cle was described as a gray sedan.

KCAL9's Dave Lopez reported that both of the victims appeared to be making a good recovery.

Officials said the fact that all the bullets entered the driver's side door indicated the suspect was right on top of the suspect.

The victims family came to the hospital but did not want to appear on camera. When asked why someone would want to target the two siblings, one member of the family said, "We have no idea."

Authorities told Lopez that it was "unlikely" a case of road rage.
