Olympian Kenneth Edwards recently signalled his intentions for selection to Jamaica's combined martial arts team by dominating the American Taekwondo Association Delaware 2017 Regional Tournament in Wilmington, Delaware.

Canada-based Edwards not only won the heavyweight division, but also took home the grand championship in his first international of the year.

He travelled among a three-man which included Donald 'Delano' Francis, who won the lightweight division for his second international gold of the season.

Veteran Jason McKay was stopped in the semi-final by Philadelphia super heavyweight John Smythe.

Members of Jamaica's combined martial arts teams, male and female, are hoping to be in top form ahead of next year's International Sport Kickboxing Association Amateur Members Association World Championship set for the Montego Bay Convention Centre.

Jamaica successfully hosted the 2014 International Taekwondo Federation World Cup (ITF) at the Montego Bay Convention Centre. Edwards was a member of the Jamaican team that won gold in the men's team event against Argentina.

Francis had also impressed at the 2014 ITF World Cup, winning the junior black belt title as a microweight.
