UPDATE: Springdale Police located and arrested Clinton R. Monroe Wednesday morning, according to a press release.---------------------Police are searching for a burglary suspect who escaped an apartment on Napa Valley Lane in Springdale while officers were on scene to serve an arrest warrant.Clinton R. Monroe, was suspected of robbing a home in Bentonville Monday morning. Police say a camera inside the home on Southwest Redwood Ave. captured the suspect. He was armed with a hammer and a black pistol.Bentonville police knocked on the apartment door. Monroe's wife answered the door and told officers the suspect was inside. Officers removed the wife from the apartment, and then knocked on the door again. Clinton Monroe did not answer, and locked the door. Bentonville police called Springdale police to inform them of the situation. SWAT and K-9 units went to the scene.As Springdale police drove to the scene, Monroe slipped out of the apartment. Officers do not currently know where the suspect is. Springdale police told 40/29 there has been no threat made and they don't believe the public is in danger. However, police are considering Monroe dangerous because of suspicious comments Monroe made to his wife.Police asked Springdale Public Schools to lockdown Har-Ber High School, Hellstern Middle School and Bernice Young Elementary. Police told the district that students were not in danger. The lockdowns were lifted later that afternoon.According to Springdale Police, they received a tip that Monroe was seen at a construction site next to Freddy's on Sunset Avenue. SWAT searched the building, but was unable to find the suspect.
