8" of rain tops the list of Michigan totals

The heaviest rain this weekend fell in the southwest corner of Lower Michigan. One location is reporting over 8 inches of rain. Here's a preliminary rundown of rainfall totals in the past 24 hours.

The image above is the storm total rainfall estimate from doppler radar. It gives a great look at where the swath of heavy rain fell.

You should notice two things. First, the obvious very heavy rain in the southwest quarter of Lower Michigan. Also notice the rapid drop in rainfall amounts in the southeast corner of Lower Michigan. As expected, Ann Arbor and Detroit remain dry after missing the bulk of this rain.

Northern Lower Michigan, including Traverse City, looks like it had a fairly uniform 1.0" to 1.5" rain in the past 24 hours.
