FORTY FORT – Dallas completed its seventh straight perfect Wyoming Valley Conference boys cross country season and the Mountaineers made it look easy.

Jack Zardecki was followed to the finish line by three Dallas teammates Wednesday in a six-team cluster meet at the Luzerne County Rec Field, leading the Mountaineers to the final three wins they needed to finish 18-0.

“I’m happy, but we still have some stuff we need to do,” Dallas coach Matt Samuel said of Wednesday’s conference championship and the Oct. 25 District 2 championships where the Mountaineers will try to earn a chance to go after their third straight state title Nov. 4 in Hershey.

Zardecki completed the 3.1-mile course in 15:55 for a 32-second win.

Josh Wyandt, Mitchell Rome and Adam Borton were closer together while finishing second, third and fourth. Rome trailed Wyandt by seven seconds and beat Borton by six.

Dallas beat both Lake-Lehman and Tunkhannock by 15-46 scores and handled Wyoming Valley West, the only team to prevent Dallas from sweeping the top five spots, 17-42.

Josh Jarden was seventh for the Mountaineers.

Lake-Lehman and Tunkhannock each went 2-1.

Lake-Lehman defeated Wyoming Seminary, 18-45, and Wyoming Area, 20-41, with the help of Riley Newman’s eighth-place finish.

Ben Tidball was ninth for Tunkhannock, which topped Wyoming Seminary, 17-42, and host Wyoming Area, 19-42.

Dallas beat Holy Redeemer by seven points and Hazleton Area by 11, but dominated the rest of its conference competition by larger margins while extending its WVC winning streak to 120.

Gabriela Ramirez scored twice and Dallas protected the WVC’s only unbeaten record with Monday’s win.

WVC division leaders Dallas and Lake-Lehman met in a non-league game Oct. 7 and played to a tie.

Mackenzie Love scored off a Madison Brdaric assist with 9:58 remaining to lift Division 2-leading Lake-Lehman into the tie.

Love had assisted Amanda Ayers on the only goal of the first half.

Olivia Kimmerle scored off a Gabriela Ramirez assist early in the second half and Kristen O’Malley put Dallas ahead with an unassisted goal midway through the half.

Lake-Lehman led in shots, 15-7, and corner kicks, 3-2.

Rachel Nelligan made 13 saves for Dallas.

Amanda Ayers scored three of her four goals in a span of 6:09 during the first half Oct. 5 to lead Lake-Lehman.

The teams remained locked in a tie through the final 16 minutes of the first half, the entire second half and two overtimes Oct. 5.

Alex Solano answered a Coughlin comeback by scoring his second goal of the game to lift Dallas to the victory Tuesday.

The Crusaders had scored goals 1:23 apart early in the second half to force a 2-2 tie.

Ricky Wooditch had the other Dallas goal.

Edge Miller scored one goal and assisted the other Tuesday night when Wyoming Seminary handed Lake-Lehman its second loss in as many days and knocked the Black Knights out of the WVC Division 2 lead

Ken Marshman scored both goals and Luis Garcia made seven saves Monday when Berwick knocked Lake-Lehman from the ranks of the unbeaten.

Chris Ash had 10 saves for Lake-Lehman.

Crestwood used the Oct. 5 overtime game to hand Dallas its first loss and force a tie for the WVC Division 1 lead.

Kate Roberts scored five goals in Monday’s rout.

Madison Klopp added two goals, the defense did not allow a penalty corner and Alicia Galasso made three saves in the shutout.

Dallas overcame two first-half interception returns for touchdowns and erased a 13-point halftime deficit Oct. 6 while winning at home to improve to 5-2.

Bradley Adams caught an 8-yard touchdown pass from Michael Starbuck, Lenny Kelley scored on an 8-yard run and Nate Maransky added his second and third extra-point kicks of the game during the third quarter.

The Mountaineers shut out the Buckhorns in the second half with the help of Matt Maransky’s blocked field goal and Dylan Schuster’s break up of a fourth-down pass with two minutes left.

Nate O’Donnell threw three touchdown passes while Matt Kurtz carried 15 times for 121 yards and two touchdowns for Lake-Lehman in the Oct. 6 WVC Class 3A/A Division road win.

A pair of 100-yard rushing efforts were not enough for the Tigers in the Oct. 6 WVC Class 4A home game.

Garrett Hopkins had a 69-yard touchdown run while finishing with 149 yards on 16 carries. Logan Cywinski ran 14 times for 103 yards and a touchdown.

Lake-Lehman rallied from one game behind twice Tuesday to pull out an 18-25, 25-17, 24-26, 25-22, 15-10 victory.

Morgan Marchakitus had 12 kills in the win while Mackenzie Barber had nine.

Courtney Henninger added nine assists and six digs.

Dallas swept Tuesday’s match by 25-13, 25-12, 25-20 scores.

Caitlyn Pike led the way with 18 assists and seven service points.

Gianna Musto added seven kills and seven points. Shelby Carr had nine points, including four on aces.

Delaware Valley won, 25-11, 25-16, 21-25, 25-16, in the Oct. 5 match.

Caitlyn Pike had 19 assists and eight digs while Gianna Musto had nine kills and 12 digs and Megan Sebastianelli had 10 service points and 10 digs for Dallas.
