The Voice of the Ducks is taking a step back.
Jerry Allen, now in his 31st year at Oregon, will move to the role of analyst for Oregon men's basketball games, while Joey McMurry will take over full-time play-by-play duties.
Allen will continue to call football games for Oregon, but said he was ready for a change during the basketball season.
"It's been an honor to be able to call Oregon basketball for the last 30 years," Allen said in a release. "I've been incredibly blessed to have been a part of some of the greatest moments in Oregon history.
"But I'm at the point in my life where I want to spend more time with my family, and can enjoy getting out and doing things with them," Allen said. "At the same time, I'm more excited than ever to be a part of the new direction of the football program and to remain a part of this very special place."
McMurry, an Oregon graduate, has called baseball games for Oregon the last three seasons and will continue to do so.
Allen's last broadcast as Oregon's basketball play-by-play man came in the Final Four, which he told The Oregonian/OregonLive was a dream come true for the Grants Pass native. It was Oregon's first appearance in the Final Four since 1939.
"It will be emotional," Allen said the day before Oregon's season-ending loss to North Carolina. "I may never get an opportunity like this to get to the Final Four."
