And at Caprice, which is known for its sunset views, Hilfiger, 66, could be seen throwing crockery to the ground - before Sir Philip threw four bowls in the air.

Jenner, 61, was filmed laughing from her chair without getting involved in the carnage - although her new boyfriend Corey Gamble, 36, was seen throwing a plate.

A witness told the Daily Mirror: 'The restaurant unofficially charges €15 -20 a plate for smashing, which is a Greek tradition at the end of a meal.

'People usually get four or five to smash at the end of the night, but they had two full trays delivered to their table - it looked like about 200 plates.'

Sir Philip faces a battle to restore his own reputation after the collapse of BHS, which failed a year after he sold it to three-times bankrupt Dominic Chappell for £1.

MPs called for Sir Philip to lose his knighthood, but he agreed to pay £363million into the pension fund.

He had until recently tried to avoid the limelight – unlike his daughter Chloe, 26, who has dated Jeremy Meeks, a US criminal banned from entering Britain.

However there is also a theory that it was a sign of wealth for the rich when they threw them into a fireplace after a feast instead of washing and reusing them.
