MTR sets up Executive Review Panel To review Kwun Tong Line Incident

In response to the signalling system problem that occurred on Kwun Tong Line on 5 August 2017, the MTR Corporation has set up an Executive Review Panel (the Panel) to comprehensively review the cause of incident and the handling procedures, and identify areas for further improvement.

The Corporation has appointed Managing Director - Operations and Mainland Business Dr Jacob Kam to chair the Panel, which comprises other experienced staff members from Operations and Engineering divisions of the Corporation. In addition, external consultant will be appointed to provide the Panel with professional opinions to assist in the review of the cause of incident and handling procedures.

"The Corporation is highly concerned about the incident and apologises once again to the affected passengers. We would also like to thank passengers for their understandings and cooperation," said Mr Lincoln Leong, Chief Executive Officer of the MTR Corporation.

The Panel will conduct a thorough review on different aspects, including the contributory factors leading to the incident, the timeliness and effectiveness of incident response and recovery. Preliminary findings will be submitted to the Government in about two months' time.
